Liz and Kegan - These Longtime Sweethearts Say "I DO"
Updated: Oct 22, 2020
As a photographer, there are times that cause me to pause and reflect on what a privilege it is to be able to do what I do. One of those times is when I've been photographing someone or family for years and have been able to capture meaningful moments throughout their lives. I have to say, there is nothing quite as rewarding as seeing someone's life unfold before your very eyes and to have a part in preserving that forever. I'm happy to report that this was one of those times for me, actually the very first time we've gotten to the wedding day! I've known the Bride's family for years; I've taken family photos for them, captured both of their girls senior portraits and now their eldest daughters wedding! To say that I was honored and overjoyed would be a massive understatement, it still brings tears to my eyes to think about it!
Okay, enough about me, let's talk about this beautiful couple, Liz and Kegan! I don't know about you, but I think it's fair to say that most young girls dream of marrying their high school sweetheart/first love and reminisce about doodling our "married name" all over our notebooks, almost as if we were wishing it into existence. Well folks, I'm here to tell you young love really can stand the test of time when it's true because that is the case for this adorable couple! It's almost unfathomable to believe, but Liz and Kegan met and fell in love in MIDDLE SCHOOL! They fondly recall how they shared their first kiss secretly in the back of the library and have been going strong for over 11 years now!
As you can imagine, they have been dreaming of their wedding day for quite sometime and I'm fairly certain, okay, like 100 percent certain that it did not involve having to plan around a global pandemic! I remember feeling so saddened that such a perfect couple, with such a perfect love story had to have this wedge its way into their special day. However, as you can probably already guess, when you've been through as many ups and downs as this couple has, such as growing up together, you can basically deal with anything that comes your way! So it should come as no surprise that they took the whole thing in stride. They did their best to roll with the ever evolving changes and challenges they were presented with, but the biggest and most heartbreaking was the knowledge that Liz's Grandfather wouldn't be able to marry them as they had originally planned due to health concerns and the possible exposure to the virus. Sadly, Covid-19 disrupted so many wedding plans this year, but I can tell you one thing, this couple still had the day of their dreams and I'm so elated to have been a part of it!
Liz's dress was absolutely gorgeous, but one of the sweetest touches was lovely having a heart sewn into it made from the material from her Mom's wedding gown!
Liz's sister Allie helps Liz get ready, so sweet to watch!
This Dad is a complete character and made sure to have a good "reaction", Liz couldn't help, but giggle and neither could I. However, The love he has for his girl is as real as it gets!
Kegan prepares to see his Bride for the first time!
Okay, this first look moment was so adorable to watch! Kegan turned around and his jaw just dropped at the sight of his girl.
I can't handle the cuteness of this photo!
OMG can we just admire these gorgeous flowers for a minute please, because I'm over here swooning over them!
Off to get married!
Yay, finally Husband and Wife! Congratulations, Liz and Kegan!
A sweet moment directly after the ceremony when Liz and Kegan were able to FaceTime with her Grandparents who weren't able to attend. This is surely a memory they will cherish for a lifetime!
Officially family, yay!! Although, I'm sure they've already felt that way for years : )
Now it's time to celebrate!!
That's a wrap, congrats Mr. & Mrs. Markese!! What a beautiful and fun filled day it was and I'm beyond honored to have been a part of it! Wishing you a blessed and happy life as husband and wife!
